A suggestion for those who are barely getting a car, is to get a vehicle that has low mileage and that is good on gas. Yes, this gas prices is ridiculous. It shouldn't be so high. Why is it so high? I don't know why.

Gas prices don't have to be too high since the US is an oil producing country and is not 'technically' totally dependant on imports. but, they do not use our own oil because they want to keep the prices up. it's called price control. you cause a shortage on the market (in our case , it's caused by our imports and not using our own oil) in order to drive the price of futures. so there are a whole lot of rich americans laughing all the way to the bank (not some arab) as their futures rise to over 65$/barrel.

For everyone who thinks this is the presidents fault, think again.

The oil companies here in the US cut production down to something like 300,000 barrels a day. They then imported double that amount and stockpiled it. They can now raise the price and neing the stupid selfish Americans that we are, take it happily. The oil companies know they have us. Bush is releaseing oil from our reserves for no real reason and the oil companies won't step up and at least pretend that they can help. If they did, the people would see that we have been screwed all along. Put blame where it belongs, the oil companies.

There is no oil shortage in the country and there never ever will be.
