How can COMMERCIAL RAP be better than UNDERGROUND??

when rap started out it was all real. Rappers talked about the real aspects about life, being againts gangs, guns, politics, ALL THE REAL THINGS. Now all i hear is shit on the radio and tv about big asses, gangs, how someone killed someone else, getting laid, "bling bling", all that shit and THE REAL SHIT is gone that's why they call it underground now. Underground is still famous but u dont hear it on the radio and tv. Most of the underground rappers are unknown. and all the assholes like 50 cent and lil jon that got no lyrical ability get all the record deals and overpoer underground. I think underground rap should overpower commercial rap. Comemrcial rap is SERIOUSLY BULLSHIT only some are good EXAMPLE: EMINEMS OLD SHIT NOW HE CHANGED, NAS and thats about all. Commercial Rap doesnt even qualify as rap. I disagree with the whole COMMERCIAL RAP being the dominant rap style. Underground rappers such as immortal technique or jedi mind tricks or Just Allah are much better than fifty, lil jon, chingy, and ETC. What's your opinion on the issue?

I'm not surprised that the vast majority of hip hop is consumed by white people. This is actually reflected most in the underground scene, with names like Necro, Slug, Aesop Rock, Buck 65, and Sage Francis - some of the sickest lyricists out there right now. It's what happens when a form of music is commodified into the mainstream; it's not necessarily a bad thing for more people to appreciate the music.

What does suck is the fact that with popularity inevitably comes commercial opportunism. The commodification (mainstreaming) of hip hop allows corporations to use it too - pretty much to sell shit. If they used "real" hip hop, the backlash by mainstream Americans would be too great. If it's rendered harmless, however, they can sell the image without the negative connotations, and therefore milk it for all its worth.

That hip hop is rife with bullshit subject matter is the product of trying to stick to a formula that works. With corporations behind the label, it's money, money, money all the way. Ja Rule, 50 Cent, The Game, Chingy, Ludacris, all of these clowns are simply a product of the American imperative to consume that is economically killing us - but that's for another thread...
