I BOX AND WAS BOXING FOR 3 MONTHS ON AND OF. I SAW OTHER BOXERS SPARRING IN THE RING SO I ASKED IF I COULD SPAR, THIS WAS WHEN I WAS AT THE CLUB FOR A MONTH. SO 1 OF THE TRAINERS TESTED MY JABS,HOOKS,ETC ON THE PADS, BUT THEY SAID NO COZ I WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. 2 MONTHS LATER I ASK AGAIN THEY STILL SAY NO, BUT I BEGED AND SAID IM READY AND WHAT NOT, SO THEY LET ME. WHAT HAPPENED THEN IS THAT I PUNCHED MY OPENENT FIRST WITH THE JAB AND THATS THE ONLY PUNCH I LANDED, I GOT FUCKED UP PROPER, I WAS SO ASHAMMED, BOXING MORE HARDER THAN IT LOOKS. I HAVE NOT BEEN 2 THE CLUB SINCE AND ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS BUT HOPE 2 GO SOON COZ I REALLY WANNA BE A BOXER.

they jus let u in the ring? ive been doin it for lil over a year, boxing isnt mostly about knowing how to hit, thats what i thought it was at first. my head trainer used to say that boxing is 80% conditioning and the rest is just mastering ur techniques.
dont let that stop u, best way to learn is from losing. like i said, its all about conditioning

my background is brazilian jujitsu or grappling , tae kwon do and kickboxing even thought i dont like boxing is very affective on the ufc i did boxing for about 4 months because i needed help with my striking but then i quitted i hate it . i know some people think boxing and kickboxing are alike but there s very big difference in terms of fighting

i tried bjj n grappling for a few classes, most of the mother f'ers in there were much bigger than me so tryin to pin em down wasn't very successful. ive done a little kickboxing but yea, boxing is much different. ive done tae kwon do alot before, even got a black, but stopped after that. boxing is definitely more my style

yea but in bjj you dont need any strenght to take any opponent down it doensnt matter how big and strong they are everything is techniques i guarantee once you re good at it you can take anybody down. i got a black belt in tai kwon do too i thought i was unbeatible but once i started doing bjj everything change and stick it

movin away from punches is good, but countering them is even better. usually jus depends on ur personality, more aggressive ppl end up becoming better boxers only cuz theyre less afraid of getting hit. from the start i think i was pretty decent from avoiding hits and countering, but the hardest part for me was to stay mobile, like movin side to side and circling them while keeping ur rhythm (sp?)

the main instructor was about 25 lbs more than me, i learned only basic moves like jumpin over stacked mats and landing on your shoulder, leaning in to grab your opponent by the waist and arm and flip em over your back, etc. i managed to do that but it was an intramural program at my college n it was a club, not lessons, so all the dudes there were already really good, cudnt keep up.

oh that s why coz you didnt learn any submission that s how you beat you oponet plus to be good at it you need a lot of training how pass the open guard , close guard, half guard , how to escape from from the submission like triangle , arm bars , kimura it takes a while and big effort to get a black belt it can take about 10-15 to get a black belt but belts dont mean shyt i ve beaten higher ranks

same thing in boxing and tae kwon do so i guess it goes for everythin else. havin a lower belt sometimes jus means u havent gotten the chance to prove urself like some of the higher ups

yeah... i mean i like to move away from punches still kuz i hate gettin hit.. i used to be aggresive but i met this boxer that was more aggressive than i was and i was like i ain't afraid of gettin hit so i ran in threw a jab and it looked like i had a perfect hook so i threw that next thing you know i fell on the ground with my nose bleedin.. i hate gettin' hit in the nose.. but i knew i would keep gettin hit like that if i kept runnin in.. so i keep it more calm now.. ive always been the type of person to wait for the punch sidestep and give a mean punch to the side of the head.. i know what you mean about keepin' your rhythm though.. but that wasn't that hard for me kuz i was natural at it.. i've just became a smarter fighter.. and i can tell if the person is gonna be aggressive and run in on me or if the person is gonna be calm and it's gonna end up bein a fight called by the judges.. personally i like the aggressive fighters kuz i love to move around.. and i put more damage in when they run in and weave and counter..it shows my conditioning.. when people dance around the ring and we end up jabbin' all night it kinda gets on my nerves.. i like to throw punches and have em thrown back.. it's fun you know

if your a boxer, it is good to take wing chun kung fu, to heighten your sensitivity to attacks and to slap punches away, and counter really fast
wing chun kung fu practitioners are known for their fast hands, and most can throw 12 strong punches in one second......bruce lee learned this style

that's basically what boxing is, bein smart. jus bein aggressive is gonna get you knocked out, learning to stay cool and think before hitting is really knowing how to box. i cant stand gettin hit in the nose either, i can eat hits to the head or to the stomache but not the nose.
sidestep and hit, that's my fav :D

Well the 1st time i ever really boxed was in the 5th grade and NO ONE could beat my dad so i tried to get him to lose because it was gettin to his head and he said i couldnt do any better and my friend was with us so after all the fights they just let random ppl jump in the ring so i was like dad let me try ill fight Kacey ( my friend) so he was like ok he set me up and the bell rang i jumped up and just started beatin on her as hard as i could and she fell over so then i waited and she punched me back so hard that i fell into the ropes sadly enough we got a draw and people were disapointed in me and my dad just walked away and that was the worst boxing match i ever did after that I got serious about it and won all but 1 :)

most ppl are weakest in the ribs, so sidestepping and landing a good uppercut to the ribs following with a good hook to the head with the same arm is probably the most powerful counter you can do imo

hell yeah.. but i like my left right combos.. sidestep right uppercut to ribs that's when their face goes down and i do a left hook to face knock their face back up and by then they either fall or catch a right hook to back of the head.. their are some people ive fought though that have weaved the left hook to the face and end up hittin the hell outta me in the side of the face..

most of the ppl i box are right handed, so i normally find myself sidestepping to my left first. but in your case, if you sidestep to your right and uppercut them with your right, hooking them with your left can be easily blocked or it might just end nipping off their arms decreasing the strength of your blow. i'd recommend following it up with the same arm. the hook is what'll get the guy to let his guard down alot, not an uppercut to the ribs, even tho the uppercut is what should cause more pain
