This is one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen. Dominican is not a race, the country is simply named after St. Dominic(a Spaniard, and for those of you who don't know, Spanish people are white) who founded it in 1592. That's like saying American is a race. Puerto Rico is not a race either, it just means Rich Port. African slaves were hauled to the slave 'Port' to work in the fields with the Boriken Indians which made the Spanish slave masters 'Rich', and so Christopher Colombus renamed the Boriken Island Puerto Rico or Rich Port. Some Puerto Ricans are white(descendants of Spanish slave masters), some are black(descendants of African slaves) and some are Indian(the people that were there before the Spanish conquest) and most of them are a mixture of all three. That's why you see Puerto Ricans who have nappy hair and black features like Tego Calderon, and some who look like Ricky Martin, and some who look like J.LO, and some who are pure black like Felix Trinidad. A race is a group of people who look the same or are genetically identical. There's only three races in the world, negroids, caucasoids, and mongoloids(Indians and Asians). Everything else is just a nationality or a mixture of two or more of those races. Spanish wasn't even the main language, it was Taino. The same goes for most of Latin America, the countries are just colonies, land conquered by the Spanish and re-named. America in general is Europeanized but people think that these European languages and cultures are theirs. It's pretty sad how dumb most of the Latinos are that I meet, I know more than they do. So basically what I'm saying is, DR mixed with black doesn't make sense because it doesn't tell you anything. It doesn't tell you if the Dominican is black, white, Indian, or mixed. If I say I'm mixed with black and American that doesn't tell you if the American is white, black, mongoloid, or mixed. An Afro-Puerto Rican + an Afro-American=a black person. A white Puerto Rican + an Afro-American=half white half black. Simple mathematics. You just have to know how to seperate nationality from race. If my mom was white and she was from France and my dad was a black American I wouldn't say 'I'm French and black' like most people, I would just say I'm white and black, and my nationalities are French and American.

Latin is not a race retard, Latin is a dead Roman language. It comes from Latium, a region in ancient Italy. Latin is the mother of all of the Romance(they're called Romance languages because they sound pretty)languages, such as French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian, and it has had some influence on every other European language also. The word Romance itself is cousin to the word Roman. I still don't get why the residents of Latin America call themselves Latin just because they speak Spanish. So in a nutshell, anyone who speaks a Romance language or resides in a country who's main language is a Romance language is welcome to consider themselves Latin regardless of race. The term Latin came from Italy and they don't even call themselves Latin, go figure. You people are idiots.

Well it's not really your fault. Everybody already thinks that nationalities are races anyway. Well actually it's only Latin Americans, if you ask a French person his race he's not going to say French. But if you ask a Puerto Rican their race they will say Puerto Rican because they're so multi-cultural and multi-racial that they don't know the difference between race and nationality. I can't tell you how many people I pissed off telling them the difference... that and people who reach far up their asses for mixed nationalities irk me to, considering countries are ever changing. Italy wasn't Italy centuries ago... US, Cuba, Panama don't have that many centuries under their belts as they now exist, and Israel is a damn good example of a country that didn't exist as it is now before the 20th century, with a major change over in ethnicities of people in the region. People need to take pride in tangible things such as intelligence and community service rather than in countries with dark pasts and not much brighter futures... if people don't start worrying about where they are going, it won't matter where they came from, cuz that place will likely cease to exist in its current state.

Yes, people who can't tell the difference between nationality, ethnicity, and race are my pet peeves. I constantly get into arguments about it. Somebody will say I'm Dominican mixed with black, and I'm just like :confused: I still try to though. I think everybody has the capacity to learn, but it is tiresome. I always get into arguments with people who say 'I'm black mixed with Puerto Rican', I meet them the most. I break it down simply, 'I could have an Afro-Puerto Rican parent and an Afro-American parent, that would make me 100 percent black. I would just belong to two different cultures, not two different races.' and they still don't get it. :confused: I dunno, schools just need to do a better job I guess or something. Dominican is not a race, the country is simply named after St. Dominic(a Spaniard, and for those of you who don't know, Spanish people are white) who founded it in 1592.
